![]() Jim Thorpe is a great town, dining, entertainment, amusement, etc. Beautiful weekend! I was impressed with how hard they worked and everyone seemed happy. Walked the trail to the lake from the campground and got a 25 mile bike ride in on the trail in the Lehigh River Gorge. They took great care of the place, had a game room, basketball court, pool and baby pool, a movie under the new pavillion for the kids, the campground store was reasonably priced, and all the campers we encountered were happy. Summer activities include mountain biking, scenic lift rides. Only 30-minutes from Comox and Courtney, youll find Mount Washington Alpine Resort - towering 1917 metres above sea level and boasting a 14-trail bike park. Our site, I was disappointed with where it was, but thankful that they had a place for us. Family ski area, PAs highest vertical, 5 terrain parks. Stanly Ranch, Auberge Resorts Collection, has a dedicated kids camp where daily activities include a hawk walk, bike rides, planting vegetables in the farm. Over the course of our stay, I saw him constantly, mopping the bathrooms, tending the pool, assisting other campers, etc. When I encountered him, he had a plumbing repair part in hand enroute to make a repair and having owned a family business recognize that the owner often appears as the maintenance man. I encountered the proprietor of the campground and he pointed to our site, and said "are you good?" I said, Are you offering? There were kids running around, and he gladly backed my truck in. ![]() On arrival in the rain, I was seeking direction as to not pull into a tight spot or make a wrong turn. While our campsite was not large or secluded, we were thankful to have gotten a last minute accommodation. Hop on the BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) and head to the Orinda station. The resort is open from May through September. Camp, grab a secluded comfortable cabin, a motel room, or bring your RV. You need to be a member to get a decent rate.
